Can the wire b concealed?
Hello, the wire can be routed throught the top end of the pipe in the wall rose as shown in the attached reference image (Click here). This will hide the wire behind the pipe and you will still be able to swivel the lamp.

How practical is this for reading ? Also does it get hot .. the metal emits heat ?
Hello. The lamp has multi-directional head and a swivel frame to suit different reading needs. To move the lamp kindly use the arm to pivot the light and not the golden lampshde.
